ROCKWALL, TX – July 31, 2020 – With visitor restrictions in place at hospitals and nursing homes due to the pandemic, many families have been unable to see their loved ones face-to-face for nearly five months, except through window visits or virtual check-ins. So yesterday, Highland Meadows Health & Rehab in Rockwall arranged a drive-by car parade that drew tears of joy and happy smiles from residents, family members, and staff alike.
Banners, balloons, signs and streamers lined the sidewalks and passing cars.
“All of it was my favorite part. It was so great!” said David Talley, Highland Meadows resident.
“It was so much fun. So fun, that my family went around twice,” said Sandra Walls.
“This was the most wonderful and emotional morning. Our families and community came out to celebrate and bring joy to our residents which brought tears of joy to so many of the staff!! Our masks were damp with tears of pure love and joy for the moment! Thank you everyone who participated,” shared Michelle Roca on her Facebook page.
Be sure to visit the Highland Meadows Health and Rehab Facebook page to see the video and photo album. If you missed the special ‘umbrella’ story we shared leading up to this event, check it out here.
