ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 18, 2021 – Lorna Kipphut announces she will run for re-election in the upcoming May 1 election for her current seat McLendon-Chisholm City Council Place 1.
“It has been my honor to represent the citizens of McLendon-Chisholm over the last two years and it would be a privilege to continue to serve the citizens of our wonderful city. McLendon-Chisholm continues to grow and change and my experience and forethought will ensure we continue to be a place where we can come together as one community and raise our families in a safe and secure environment,” Kipphut said.
Well over a hundred families have moved to McLendon-Chisholm since she was elected in 2019 and now looks forward to meeting them over the next months. Committed to citizen engagement and transparency, Lorna has held weekly open sessions with members of the community to listen to them and work together to forge a brighter future. When challenged by COVID, she was a leading force to ensure the city remained open and accessible by using safe practices and technology.
“I am committed to listen and act based on the inputs of our wonderful citizens; I am proud to be their voice on Council,” she said.
“My focus remains on maintaining our low tax rate, improving public safety and ensuring our infrastructure, roads, water and sanitation meets the needs now and well into the future. Like each of you, I want to keep the rural “look and feel” of our city with its open spaces and rustic rural lifestyle.”
Lorna’s focus if re-elected will be to remain a vocal advocate for McLendon-Chisholm’s citizens to the Rockwall County leadership on the Rockwall County Road Consortium and Emergency Management Corporation. She also proudly ensured the city’s Veterans Memorial has added features and has become a place where citizens can come together and remember those who have served our nation. The upcoming expansion of SH 205 and construction of the new Fire Station will have a momentous impact on the city and she is committed to ensure both are assets to the community.
“McLendon-Chisholm is a treasure in Rockwall County and while there is tremendous pressure to develop our city and the surrounding areas of the county, it must be done smartly and logically. You have my pledge to fight to ensure our future growth adds value to both our homes, but also to our lifestyles by preserving that which we hold close to our hearts.”
Lorna is involved across both McLendon-Chisholm and Rockwall County. She is proud veteran and very active in our local Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117 where she oversees youth development programs, including the recognized Boys State and Girls State programs designed to forge active and responsible citizens. She also served as a mentor in the North Texas Regional Veteran’s Court and is a member of the Rockwall County Women’s Republican Club.
Lorna and her husband Mark have been married for almost 35 years and have lived in Rockwall County since 2010 and McLendon-Chisholm since 2014. Their adult daughter Madeline, a young professional in the NTT Data Service Corporation, lives in Rowlett.
