McLendon-Chisholm prepares for growth with update to the Comprehensive Plan

Community Survey available through April 20, 2021

McLendon-Chisholm, TX – March 31, 2021 – As growth and urbanization continue to move eastward in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the need to update the City’s Vision for the future, and strategies to make sure that Vision becomes a reality, is becoming more pressing. Since the previous Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2016, McLendon-Chisholm has experienced population growth and new development. To acknowledge the changes in McLendon-Chisholm, its position in the extensive growth path, and provide innovative strategies to retain what is special to the community, the City has initiated a Comprehensive Plan update. Comprehensive plans are generally updated every three to five years, so the time is right to revisit this important guide for McLendon-Chisholm’s future.

The planning process will include community engagement throughout to ensure collaboration in the creation on each of the Comprehensive Plan elements, such as future land use, mobility, and economic development. The first opportunity for collaboration is the Community Survey. Feedback from the Survey will be utilized to establish a planning baseline for the community and guide the next stages in the planning process.

The Community Survey is available now through April 20, 2021, and it is anticipated to take less than 10 minutes to complete. Results from the Survey will be posted on the new project website, www.PlanMCTX.com, and on the City’s Facebook. The community is encouraged to share thoughts on Facebook on public posts as well, throughout the planning process, with the hashtag #planmctx to be included as part of feedback for the Plan.

Said Mayor Keith Short of the Comprehensive Plan update, “There is no more important time for us to come together as a community and figure out what we want to be—how to make it happen. Growth is here, and more is coming, so we need a solid toolbox to make sure we get what we want and don’t waste the land we do have on things that are not best for our community. We look forward to incorporating different viewpoints from community leaders, business owners, residents, and visitors in this important update.”

The project website is available at www.PlanMCTX.com and will also be listed on the City’s website for the duration of the project. The Community Survey is available on the website, and anyone who is a resident, stakeholder, or visitor to McLendon-Chisholm is invited to participate and help spread the word!
