The STOP THE BLEED class will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. The purpose of the STOP THE BLEED campaign is to make our nation more resilient by better preparing the public to save lives if people nearby are severely bleeding. This is done by raising awareness and teaching people three quick actions to control severe bleeding. Karen Casey, EMT-P and Director of Mission Control from Texas Health Hospital Rockwall will be the instructor for this class.
The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) class directly follows from 7 to 8 p.m. CRASE is designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center in 2004.
CRASE provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills. Captain Alexander Gray from Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office will be the instructor for this class.
Both courses will be held at the Rockwall County Emergency Operations Center, 972 T.L. Townsend Drive, Rockwall, TX 75087.
