Rockwall County Democratic Chair steps down

ROCKWALL, TX (Oct. 4, 2021) Ericka Ledford today announced she is stepping down as Rockwall County Democratic Chair. She shared the following message:

It is with genuinely sad emotions that I share my decision to leave my position at the Rockwall County Democratic Party (RCDP) in order to work with an exploratory committee effective November 1, 2021. This decision has been a tremendously difficult one to make, given the exciting and impactful work that we are in the midst of at our Rockwall County Democratic Party.

I want to earn and hope to impact the practices responsible for serving children and families throughout Rockwall County. The exploratory committee believes that I can earn the opportunity to influence local public policy, improve access to services, and reduce unnecessary administrative burdens.

This bittersweet decision has taken me quite some time. Still, it is best to transition from my position when the organization has strong leadership and is getting financially stable. Just as it has led on over many decades when leadership has changed, so will the RCDP continue to be the beacon for our Rockwall County Democrats.

The best part of my job has been getting to know you: the party members, supporters, the county government staff, and county partners. Without you, the RCDP would not be as strong and vibrant as it is. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me the privilege of leading through such a unique and transformational period in its long history.

I am so honored to have been the leader of this incredible organization. I will watch with much excitement and anticipation as it makes strides in supporting and creating solutions to work toward having a seat at the table of our local Democracy.
