ROCKWALL, TX (Nov. 2, 2021) Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Rockwall, includes a service organization called Council of Catholic Women, or CCW. This local group is within the larger DDCCW, the Dallas Deanery CCW, which fosters awareness of national news and trends within the world of the active Catholic woman.
Each year the Deanery CCW honors individuals whose names are submitted by different parishes. This year OLOL is pleased to honor Mary Lou O’Braitis as our DDCCW Woman of the Year. On November 6, she and several other representatives from the parish will attend the Annual Assembly in Frisco, dedicated to these selfless women.
Mary Lou has been an active member of her parish for 26 years. Bereavement work, homebound service, Eucharistic minister and Lady Grand Knight duties are only a portion of what Mary Lou has contributed. She has also organized the making of 900 baby caps, stored multitudes of items for fundraising causes, and hosted gatherings on her property to promote Covid safety protocols.
Downplaying her work, Mary Lou will only say, “I get pleasure from doing good things for others. When I see what is needed, I like to help out, and I get such benefit because I feel so good when I am doing good for others.”
