ROCKWALL, TX (Nov. 29, 2021) Rockwall County Clerk Jennifer Fogg will present valuable information about Rockwall County’s new Property Fraud Alert Service during a free Lunch & Learn event from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at the JER Chilton YMCA, 1210 N. Goliad in Rockwall. All community members are welcome and lunch will be provided.
The Rockwall County Commissioners Court recently approved a proposal from Fidlar Technologies for the County Clerk’s office to provide Property Fraud Alert software and support for citizens.
“Property fraud is the fastest-growing white collar crime in the United States,” said Rockwall County Clerk Jennifer Fogg. “House Bill 3415 which allows county clerks to require identification for a filer does not help Rockwall County citizens, as it’s only applicable to counties with a population of 800,000 or more. The most likely targets of deed theft are those with a significant amount of home equity who are not suspecting fraud. Unfortunately this means senior citizens. They’re targeted because they are more likely to have spent their lives investing in their home.”
