ROCKWALL, TX (May 25, 2022) The Rockwall Girls Lacrosse Team made it to the Division II State Championship Game for the first time in the program’s history! This Varsity Team is comprised of girls from Rockwall High School, Rockwall-Heath High School and Community High School ranging from grades 9th-12th.  Varsity coaches include Coach Gill Goodsell, Coach Roy Fanara and Coach Paul Bovee.

Rockwall’s first Playoff game was against Prosper on Parish Episcopal’s infamous blue turf field in Dallas. In the Super Regionals, the team defeated the McNeil (RoundRock) team that was ranked 3rd in their District with a score of 19-10.  Highlights from the game included 5 goals from Hailey Morgan, 3 goals each from Campbell Albers, Courtney Iadanza, Danielle Iadanza and Emily Leal, and 1 goal each from Jadyn Coleman and Leah Gallini.  Goal assists consisted of 2 from Addi Kimmel and 1 goal assist each from Campbell Albers, Jadyn Coleman, Leah Gallini, Ellie Graves, Zayley Hinds, and Emily Leal.  Our Defense did a good job protecting our goal/goalies, resulting in 2 stops each from our goalies Bronwyn Ferris and Kaelyn Goodwin.

The Rockwall team then advanced on to play an undefeated Kingwood team ranked #1 in their District on their home field.  These athletes went into the game determined and set the pace for the game, winning 15-6.  Highlights from the game included 5 goals from Emily Leal, 2 goals each from Campbell Albers, Courtney Iadanza and Hailey Morgan, and a goal each from Jadyn Coleman, Danielle Iadanza and Addi Kimmel.  Goal assists consisted of 2 from Jadyn Coleman and Danielle Iadanza, and 1 goal assist each from Campbell Albers, Ellie Graves and Courtney Iadanza.  Our goalies did amazing with 3 stops from Bronwynn Ferris and 2 stops for Kaelyn Goodwin.

After winning Super Regionals, the girls solidified their spot in the Semi-Finals played in Austin, TX.  Their first game would be against the Coppell team, whom they had lost to by 1 point in overtime earlier during the regular season.  This game would also be played missing 2 of our Seniors/starters, due to Rockwall High School’s Prom commencing the same weekend.  But even with the odds against them, the team had a game pland and pulled together to win 9-7.  Highlights from the game included 5 points from Jadyn Coleman, 2 points from Campbell Albers and 1 point each from Danielle Iadanza and Courtney Iadanza.  Goal assists consisted of 1 each from both Hailey Morgan and Danielle Iadanza.  Defensive stops were led by Jadyn Coleman, Bronwynn Ferris, and Courtney Iadanza.  Our goalies, Bronwynn Ferris and Kaelyn Goodwin each had 3 stops to help win the game.

The Championship game would be played against Anderson, another undefeated team ranked #1 in their District and #2 in the State of Texas.  Even facing a team with these impressive rankings, the girls went into the game strong being the first team to score.  The team was down 10-5 at halftime but came back to outscored Anderson in the 2nd half with 6 goals to their 4.  Just falling a few goals short at the end with Anderson winning the State Championship with the final score of 14-11.  Highlights from the game included 3 goals each from Jadyn Coleman and Emily Leal, 2 goals from Hailey Morgan, and 1 goal each from Campbell Albers, Leah Gallini, and Courtney Iadanza.  Goal assists consisted of 1 from Jadyn Coleman and 1 from Danielle Iadanza.  Defensive stops were led by Jadyn Coleman, Mazie Johnson, and Kaleigh Poe.  Our goalies Bronwynn Ferris and Kaelyn Goodwin had 3 stops each in the game.

The Rockwall Girls Lacrosse program has come a long way from starting off less than a decade ago and having a 5th grader and two 7th graders playing with all high school girls just so they had enough girls to form a team.  Fast forward, and in just 6 years, this program now has full teams starting from 1st grade all the way through to 12th grade.  If you are interested in having your daughter join an amazing, supportive program (no matter their age or skill level), please check out the website at rockwallgirlslacrosse.org for more information.

To all the graduating Seniors, it has been a joy watching all of you play and cheering you on throughout the years.  Congratulations on making it to State your final year playing for Rockwall!  We will miss you, but wish you good luck in the next chapter of your journey! To all the current/new Varsity and Junior Varsity girls – keep up the hard work, cause we can’t wait to cheer you on next year for another exciting Season!
