ROCKWALL, TX (July 28, 2022) The Royse City Independent School District is pleased to invite the community to two special school dedication ceremonies and open house opportunities. Join us on Saturday, August 27 for these consecutive celebrations.
Glenda Arnold Early Childhood Learning Center Dedication 2:00 p.m.
This exciting new campus is located at 1400 FM 1777 and replaces Ruth Cherry Elementary. The Glenda Arnold ECLC will serve the district’s early learners, pre-k students and house the district’s employee childcare facility. Mrs. Arnold was a lifetime resident of Royse City and a graduate of Royse City High School. She was hired by Royse City ISD in 1978. She taught in the early childhood and the special education classroom, was an educational diagnostician, and oversaw and led the special education department for RCISD before becoming the principal at Davis Elementary. After her retirement from Davis Elementary, she returned to the district to continue to serve her school community as a special education diagnostician.
Ruth Cherry Elementary Dedication 4:00 p.m.
With the passage of the 2021 Bond Referendum, the community supported a measure to rebuild a larger and newer school replacement for this school community. Located in Verandah Estates at 1450 Verandah Blvd, this beautiful new school will help address rapid student enrollment growth and provide an exciting learning environment for students in grades Kindergarten through 5th. Mrs. Cherry began teaching in 1965 in Royse City ISD and enjoyed a 28 year career in education. She served as a principal in Royse City ISD until her retirement in 1998. Mrs. Cherry is an active supporter and visitor of her namesake school. The district looks forward to this celebration with both Mr. and Mrs. Cherry.
