ROCKWALL, TX (Nov. 22, 2022) One hundred and four golfers competed in this year’s Tommy Hooper Memorial Golf tournament at Buffalo Creek Golf Club in Heath this past October.
This annual tournament began with an outing in 2005 memorializing Tech grad Tommy Hooper (Hale Center ‘72). Tommy’s wife Margie Hooper and Dale and Teddi Cherry (all of the Rockwall TTAA) have turned it into a fall tradition, raising over $300,000 and establishing 50 scholarships to Tech-bound Rockwall and Rockwall Heath graduates along the way.
Special guests attending this year’s event were Curt Langford, President and CEO of the Texas Tech Alumni Association along with three ex-Red Raider football stars Cody Hodges, Vincent Meeks, and Mickey Peters.
If you’re a Tech ex-student, this is a fun event to attend just for the sake of re-living old Lubbock stories.
