Royse City names Teresa Atkins Principal of Elementary School #7

ROYSE CITY, TX (Feb. 17, 2023) The Royse City ISD School Board unanimously approved Teresa Atkins as principal of elementary school #7 in the Waterscape Subdivision. The new school was approved in the May 2021 Bond Referendum and will open in August of 2024. The district will seek input from the community over the summer of 2023 for the naming of this new school.

Mrs. Atkins attended Royse City ISD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade and is a 1993 Royse City High School Graduate. She has been with Royse City ISD for eleven years. Prior to administrative roles, she served as a teacher at Miss May Vernon Elementary. She holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in educational administration.

“We are so proud of Mrs. Atkins and her leadership at Anita Scott Elementary. She is a natural leader who values relationships and their importance in the educational process,” said Superintendent Kevin Worthy. “The culture and learning environment of her current campus is a bright indicator of what is to come for Elementary #7. We look forward to successes at both campuses as we continue to grow as a district.”

On her new role, Mrs. Atkins shared, “As a graduate of Royse City ISD, I am honored to have the opportunity to open this beautiful new school. I am thankful for the foresight of the Strategic Planning Committee that prepared our small district for intense growth. I’m grateful to the many mentors in Royse City ISD who guided me to this point and I’m so thankful for the Anita Scott Elementary Staff and the families that we serve. I look forward to an amazing finish to the school year as well as magical new beginnings.”

Mrs. Atkins will continue to serve as principal of Anita Scott Elementary through the remainder of the school year. The district will select a new leader for the campus in the coming months. Boundary zone development for Elementary #7 will begin in the Fall of 2023 in collaboration with the community.
