ROYSE CITY, TX (Aug. 7, 2023) On Monday, August 7, 2023, at 8:27 am, the Royse City Police Department and the Royse City Fire Department were dispatched to a major accident on IH30 Eastbound at FM 35. An 18-Wheeler traveling westbound crossed over onto the eastbound side of IH30 and collided with three passenger cars. One of the passenger cars that was struck caught fire and was fully engulfed when first responders arrived. There appears to be two confirmed fatalities in the passenger car that caught fire. IH30 Eastbound has been closed between FM35 and FM2642 and will remain closed for several hours for the collision investigation and clean up. The identity of the two deceased persons in the passenger car is unknown at this time. The accident remains under investigation by the Royse City Police Department Traffic Collision Unit. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
