Donations being accepted to fill commemorative capsule
ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (Nov. 17, 2023) As Rockwall County celebrates its 150th anniversary, a time capsule filled with donated memorabilia will be buried in the “connector section” between the Rockwall County Library and Rockwall County Courthouse on Saturday, Dec. 16.
Community members are invited to a welcome introduction, presentation and commemorative art unveiling at 10 a.m. in the Rockwall County Library Meeting Room, followed by the time capsule burial at 10:30 a.m. The time capsule will not be opened again for another 25 years – in 2048.
Those wishing to donate items to the time capsule should do so by Dec. 8. Include a brief description of the item and its importance in Rockwall County’s history. Donors will be provided with a Time Capsule Donation Form at the time of drop-off, to help organizers track the items donated. Please note that not all items are guaranteed to be included due to size restrictions. Donations can be dropped off at the Historic Courthouse County Judge’s Office 101 E Rusk, Room 202- Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
