ROCKWALL, TX (Jan. 25, 2024) Rockwall County Helping Hands gathered recently for its Annual Board Meeting to honor exceptional individuals, welcome new additions to its esteemed board, and celebrate a significant milestone in community impact.
The President’s Award, a symbol of leadership and dedication, was presented to Rob Scheele for his outstanding contributions.
Dr. Sishler received The David B. Lensch Award, recognizing exemplary service and commitment.
Gail Fletcher was honored with The Ethel Moss Award, highlighting her significant impact on the community.
The Chairman’s Award was bestowed upon Lorne Leichty for exemplary leadership and vision.
In addition to recognizing these distinguished awards, the organization proudly announced that the number of clients served in the last year surpassed the previous year by an impressive 7,000 individuals. Helping Hands successfully served 23,890 individuals in 2023, reflecting a substantial growth in community impact. This includes1,688 students that received backpacks and school supplies, 400 families that received a Thanksgiving basket with a turkey, and 1,507 children that were able to get toys/ gift cards for Christmas. Finally, a staggering 8,384 patients were seen by the Health Center staff at Helping Hands.
The event also marked the welcoming of new board members: Kim Stark, Kevin Fowler, Dr. Stephanie Shishler, and Doug Brown. Each new member brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to making a positive difference in the community.
The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches, expressions of gratitude, and a sense of unity as the Helping Hands community came together to celebrate achievements and embrace the future.
