ROCKWALL, TX (April 22, 2024) At a special meeting on Monday, April 22, the Royse City ISD School Board approved by unanimous vote the naming of Dr. Amy Anderson as the lone finalist in the superintendent search. Dr. Anderson has served as the interim superintendent since the retirement of longtime superintendent Kevin Worthy in December. She first joined Royse City ISD in the Summer of 2022 as chief academic officer and was later promoted to deputy superintendent. Texas state law requires school districts to implement a 21-day waiting period before an official contract may be offered. Dr. Anderson is scheduled to sign her contract on Monday, May 13.
On the approval of Dr. Anderson as lone finalist, School Board President Scott Muckensturm said, “This is a momentous day for Royse City ISD in regard to the process that we have been going through the last few months. The selection of the next superintendent for Royse City ISD was one that we took very seriously. The future is bright as Dr. Anderson will continue the legacy of excellence in our school district. She will keep steady to the aspects that make Royse City ISD so special and guide us through the tremendous growth that we see on the horizon.”
“For the last two years, it has been my pleasure to work alongside the very brightest students, the most talented staff, and the kindest families you will find anywhere. The people who live and work in Royse City are what makes our community special. It is an honor to be named the lone finalist for superintendent of schools. I am humbled by this opportunity and cannot wait to begin our journey together,” said Dr. Anderson. “We will pursue excellence in everything from the classroom, to our performing arts, and on the playing field. I look forward to our future with the greatest of hopes and expectations. There is no better time to be a part of Bulldog Nation than now! Thank you again for the privilege of leading and serving this great school district.”
Dr. Anderson holds a doctoral degree of education and master’s from Texas A&M University-Commerce and completed her undergraduate studies at Howard Payne University. She and her husband Tyler are the proud parents of Cale, Ryan Ruth and Samuel.
