Girl Scouts and Rock Wall Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution to host flag retirement ceremony April 6

ROCKWALL, TX (April 4, 2024) The Rock Wall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Girl Scout Troop 8967 will host a community flag retirement ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6 at the Veteran’s Memorial at McLendon-Chisholm City Hall, 1371 W FM 550 in McLendon-Chisholm.

Community members are welcome to bring American or state flags that are no longer fit to fly to the event to be retired.

Rock Wall Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was organized on February 3, 1978, by Minnette Pelphrey Goodson, and named for an underground wall of rock. The wall, which encompasses a large area below Rockwall County, was discovered by early settlers digging wells in search of water. Although it has a man-made appearance, it has been suggested that it may be a natural rock formation.

The group meets on the first Saturday morning of each month during the school year. The majority of its members live in Rockwall County: Royse City, McClendon-Chisholm, Heath, Rockwall, and Rowlett. Learn more on their website.
