Summer is coming, and that means Rockwall Summer Musicals

South Pacific opens June 28

ROCKWALL, TX (June 5, 2024) Schools out, the temperatures are climbing and Rockwall Summer Musicals are in rehearsal.

For the past 13 years, RSM has become synonymous with ‘Summer in Rockwall’. Each summer, RSM produces quality musicals, bringing classics such as ‘Oklahoma’, ‘The Sound of Music’ ‘Music Man’ ‘Anything Goes’ and ‘Into the Woods’ to entertain the community – and – ‘community’ is really where they begin every year, from the selection of the musicals to their
collaboration with local musicians, actors, dancers and backstage crew,  great people working together to bring fantastic musicals to the Rockwall community.

This year, RSM is thrilled to be producing Rodgers and Hammersteins beloved musical ‘SOUTH PACIFIC’ – a love story, centering around an American Nurse ‘Nellie Forbush’ (Molly Pope) who falls in love with a French plantation owner ‘Emile de Becque (Grant Palmore) on a South Pacific Island during WW2 . A secondary romance between a young Lieutenant (Jake Busher) and young Tonkinese woman Liat, (played by Briella Antenocruz) is also featured along with comic
performances by a host of supporting characters.

‘South Pacific’ became one of Broadway’s longest running musicals and is a nostalgic voyage into the past. Featuring a stellar cast, expertly directed by RSM’s founder Barbara Doudt, classic musical numbers such as ‘Some Enchanted Evening’, ‘I’m gonna wash that man right outta my hair’, ‘There’s nothing like a Dame’ and ‘Bali Ha’i’, directed by Music Director Traci Kaip and colorful dance numbers choreographed by Suzanne Toler, audiences are guaranteed to be enchanted from
beginning to end.

‘SOUTH PACIFIC’ will open Friday, June 28 and run for two weekends (June 28,29,30 & July 5,6,& 7)

All performances will take place main stage at Rockwall High School – 901 Yellow Jacket Lane, Rockwall.  Tickets can be purchased through ‘Tickets to the City’ or at rockwallsummermusicals.org.

Ticket prices: Adult $29.35, Senior $27.30 and Students $24.95

As a non-profit, RSM appreciates the generosity of its sponsors, members and volunteers and cannot wait to bring ‘Broadway to your Backyard’ for a 13th Season.
