Fate, TX (August 16, 2024) – On August 16, 2024, around 2:25am, Fate Department of Public Safety Police Officers observed a vehicle reported stolen by the Dallas Police Department. Around the 5200 Blk of Westbound Interstate 30, officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle began to evade the officers and would not stop. The pursuit continued west on Interstate 30, entering the City of Dallas.
The driver exited the highway and evaded on side streets in downtown Dallas. The pursuit entered Interstate 35 service road. Due to the driver’s reckless behavior, at the end of the pursuit, a low-speed Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) technique was used by the lead Fate Police Officer. The TVI was successful; the driver attempted to drive away but was boxed in by an additional Fate Police Officer and an assisting Rockwall County Sheriff’s Deputy. The pursuit ended in the 7700 Blk of the N Stemmons Freeway.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Parkland Medical Center for evaluation due to suspicion of ingesting an unknown amount of narcotics. Upon release, the suspect was transported to the Rockwall County Detention Center. This case will be filed with the Rockwall County District Attorney’s Officer for prosecution.
