How to include Caregivers in the Care Team: online event for family members and professionals

Rockwall County, TX (October 9, 2024) – Healthcare workers can better serve patients through partnerships with caregivers, but there needs to be more formal training and support on engaging caregivers in care planning. Exploring caregivers’ roles and experiences in supporting the health of loved ones is important to having confidence in the process. Issues including difficult behaviors, elder abuse and advocacy, diversity, and cultural competence are areas to be considered when bringing on a caregiver for a family member.

The caregiving journey is more manageable with the proper support. Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County (MOWSS) is here to partner with you. We collaborate with the North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging to provide caregiver support, guide caregivers and seniors through all stages of life and preparation and offer a lifeline to relieve anxiety.

When entrusting the care of a loved one to a caregiver, it is important to define roles and responsibilities for both the caregiver and the family. Often, the person being cared for may need more capabilities to communicate their needs and observations. The caregiver carries great responsibility for the sake of the patient, the person they are caring for, and the family they are reporting to.
