Royse City, TX (November 14, 2024) – On Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 10:30 pm, the Royse City Police Department responded to a report of an aggravated robbery in the Verandah Subdivision. The victim, a female Uber driver, reported she picked up a male subject at a business in Addison and gave the subject a ride to an address in the Verandah Subdivision in Hunt County. When the victim arrived at the location, she reported the suspect pulled out a handgun, placed it to the back of her head and demanded money. The suspect then took the victim’s cell phone, ordered her out of the vehicle and drove away in the victim’s 2020 Hyundai Tucson SUV. After the suspect drove away, the victim was able to flag down another motorist and called 911.
A short time later, an officer with the Fate Department of Public Safety observed the stolen SUV traveling westbound on HWY 66 in the City of Fate, Rockwall County and attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. Fate DPS units along with the units from the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office pursued the stolen vehicle into Rockwall and then into Rowlett. The pursuit ended in the area of Miller Road and the President George Bush Turnpike Service Road when a Fate DPS unit conducted a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver which successfully stopped the suspect vehicle. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers chased after the suspect on foot and he was apprehended with the assistance of the Rowlett Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety Helicopter unit and a Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit that had responded to assist with the pursuit. No officers nor the suspect were injured during the pursuit or arrest.
The suspect, who was identified as Cory Jamal Redic, a 20-year-old male from Hunt County, was placed under arrest and transported to the Rockwall County Jail. Cory Redic is now facing multiple charges out of Rockwall County and Hunt County related to the vehicle pursuit and the aggravated robbery.
