Texas Bar Foundation awards grant ‘Powering Hope, Securing Safety’ for Women In Need clients

ROCKWALL, TX (May 12, 2025) Women In Need, Inc. (WIN) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a generous grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to support its critical initiative, “Powering Hope, Securing Safety.” These funds will be used to purchase and install a generator at WIN’s Rockwall office, ensuring that the organization can continue providing life-saving services during power outages and emergencies.

As the local non-profit that serves as a 24/7 crisis response and advocacy center, WIN provides immediate safety and long-term support to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. This generator will allow the organization to operate without disruption, ensuring that crisis calls are answered, security systems and communication lines are maintained, emergency shelter services remain available, and advocacy continues regardless of weather or utility failures.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Texas Bar Foundation for believing in our mission and helping us provide stability and safety for those in need,” said Kristen Ostertag, Executive Director of Women In Need. “This generator is more than a piece of equipment—it’s a promise to our clients that they will have a safe and responsive place to turn, even during crisis.”

Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $29 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation’s largest charitably-funded bar foundation.

Women In Need, Inc. has served Northeast Texas for over 40 years and remains committed to empowering survivors of domestic violence through advocacy, shelter, education, and outreach across multiple counties in North Texas. This grant furthers WIN’s mission to ensure safety, promote healing, and support long-term independence for survivors.
