City of Fate Adopts FY 2025–2026 Budget and Tax Rate

FATE, TX (Sept. 19, 2025)– At the September 15, 2025, City Council meeting, the Fate City Council approved the Fiscal Year 2025–2026 budget and adopted a new property tax rate of $0.290869 per $100 of assessed value. The Council voted 7–0 to approve the budget.

The newly adopted tax rate represents a 12.2% increase from the previous rate of $0.259245. For the median home in Fate, valued at approximately $370,806, the annual city property tax bill will be about $1,078.56—an increase of roughly $14.58 per month, or $175 annually compared to last year.  It is important to note that $8.49 of this monthly increase includes the Debt Service for the voter approved DPS Bond.

“This budget represents an investment in Fate’s future. As our community continues to grow, the City Council and I remain committed to strengthening public safety, improving infrastructure, and providing the amenities our residents deserve. We made thoughtful cuts where appropriate while prioritizing long-term solutions that will benefit Fate not only in the coming fiscal year, but for many years ahead. Fate is a great place to call home, and we are committed to keeping it that way.” – Mayor Andrew Greenberg.

Key Priorities in the FY 2025–2026 Budget Include:

  • Public Safety: Includes a compensation plan to raise Public Safety and civilian staff salaries. plus
    major facility investments: $15.7M for a new Police Station, $1.5M for the Southside Fire
    remodel, and $500K for Downtown Fire Station renovations
  • Infrastructure: Improvements to roads include $4.5M for Miss May Drive and $894,100 for
    Gettysburg to Blackland, in alignment with the City’s Thoroughfare Plan. To boost its road
    maintenance program, the city approved $1.8 million annually to road maintenance.
  • Parks and Community Amenities: A major focus for FY 2026 is enhancing the City’s park system.
    The next phase of Fate Station Park will include the Food Haul, entertainment stage, and
    additional public parking, reinforcing Downtown as a vibrant community destination. The
    budget also invests in Robert Smith Family Park, with a shade structure and expanded parking,
    and Joe Burger Park, with new trails and landscaping.
  • Strategic initiatives to guide sustainable development.

The approved budget aligns resources with the City’s ongoing commitment to maintain a safe, thriving, and family-friendly community.
