ROCKWALL, TX (May 11, 2026) — The Rockwall Community Playhouse invites audiences to step back in time with its moving production of A Piece of My Heart, a powerful true drama honoring the women who served during the Vietnam War.
Directed by Darlene Singleton, the production follows the stories of six women who traveled to Vietnam during the war — five nurses and a country western singer sent overseas to entertain troops. Through emotional and deeply personal moments, the play portrays each woman before, during, and after her tour in Vietnam, ultimately culminating at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., where each leaves behind a personal token of remembrance.
Set against the backdrop of the 1960s and 1970s, the production explores the emotional realities and lasting impact of war while paying tribute to the women whose service and sacrifices were often overlooked.
“This play is a tribute to the women who served — nurses, medics, intelligence officers, support personnel, and others whose roles were too often left unspoken,” organizers shared. “Your service was vital, your courage undeniable, and your contributions deserve full recognition and remembrance.”
The cast includes Kenna King, Nicole Skinner, Janna Tindall, Joetta Currie, Sally Duffin, Ayanna Salman, and Gene Fields, who bring the emotional story to life through performances filled with music, memories, and powerful storytelling.
