ROCKWALL, Texas – August 24, 2026 — After more than a decade of dedicated service to children and families, Lone Star CASA is celebrating the retirement of longtime Volunteer Advocate Sharon Chapman, who has spent the past 12 years making sure children involved in the child welfare system have a voice.
Chapman was sworn in as a CASA Volunteer Advocate in February 2012. During her years of service, she advocated for 23 children across 13 cases, bringing compassion, consistency, and commitment to every child she served.
Sharon also holds a special place in Lone Star CASA’s history as the first CASA Volunteer Advocate appointed to a Court Ordered Services (COS) case. These types of cases give parents involved in the child welfare system a chance to strengthen their families while the children remain in their home. Her willingness to step into this new area of advocacy helped pave the way for Lone Star CASA to support families who have a Court Ordered Services (COS) case.
“Sharon has been an incredible advocate and an invaluable part of the Lone Star CASA family,” said Elizabeth Mosman, Operations Director at Lone Star CASA. “Her dedication to the children she served, her willingness to take on new challenges, and her genuine care for others are just a few of the qualities that made her such a remarkable volunteer. Her impact will continue to be felt long after her retirement.”
Sharon’s commitment to advocacy extended beyond the children on her assigned cases. She supported Lone Star CASA staff, encouraged fellow volunteers, and contributed to strengthening the organization as a whole. In 2024, she completed a two-year term on the National CASA/GAL Association for Children’s National Volunteer Council, contributing her experience and perspective to the broader CASA mission.
Lone Star CASA extends its deepest gratitude to Sharon for 12 years of extraordinary service to children in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties.
