FATE, TX (Oct. 21, 2021) Two mural artists are currently working on a city-owned building located in Downtown Fate at 104 E. Fate Main Place that houses both the Department of Public Safety and Four Czechs Bakery.
John Bramblitt, a blind Denton mural artist, is painting the entire length of the building with historic images of Fate. The mural has a postman on horseback depicting 1899, when Fate became the first town in Texas to have a rural mail route. Silhouettes of historic buildings are depicted in the center and anchoring the right side of the mural, a large train emphasizes the importance of the historic railroad.
Bramblitt lost his vision in 2001 due to health complications. Today, his wife Jacques and guide dog Eagle assist him while navigating the worksite. He navigates the mural with raised lines of paint felt with his fingers and paints images from real life. When asked if the texture of the brick was a hinderance, he said “No, they work as a grid and help with keeping the scaling correct.”

Chris Bingham, a Dallas artist, is working on a mural facing William E. Crawford Ave. with the saying “Fate Bound, Fate Found” in a modern and colorful style. In other exciting downtown Fate news, the City has three nominations for a Texas Downtown Association People’s Choice (online Facebook voting) and Present’s Awards. The awards will be given in conjunction with the Texas Downtown Conference gala on Thursday, November 4.
