Eat, drink and be scary with a Hocus Pocus Cocktail party

ROCKWALL, TX (Oct. 25, 2022) What better way to celebrate spooky season than with a Hocus Pocus party?

For the latest episode of The Rose Table, I served a witchy menu inspired by the Sanderson Sisters in my dining room lit up with their signature green magic. For dinner, I served my Apple Season Salad, Witches Brew Stew with adorable edible eyeballs inspired by Winifred’s spell book, and Hocus Pocus Cupcakes decorated to look like our favorite witches’ hair.

I decorated the dining room with all sorts of spooktacular items, including handmade Halloween mugs designed by local craftsman Marbleized Ceramics, an antique broom hung up on the wall just like in the movie, and custom-made Hocus Pocus signs by Enchanted Farmhouse.

For the adult beverage, I served a spooky cocktail that’s sure to cast a spell on you. If you’ve never used dry ice before, don’t be scared. While you shouldn’t touch or consume dry ice in its solid form, dry ice is perfectly safe to use in drinks because it evaporates. You have about 5-10 minutes of smoking before the dry ice fully evaporates leaving you with a delicious (and well-chilled!) drink.

The Hocus Pocus

2 oz Empress Gin
4 oz lemonade
Dry ice

Add Empress gin to a highball glass. Add lemonade and ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ as the color changes.
Set bag of dry ice on a large towel. Tear bag open slightly. Wrap towel around dry ice and bash with a hammer. Unwrap and use tongs to place a chunk of dry ice in each cocktail. The drink will immediately start smoking. The smoke will last for approximately 5-10 minutes.
