Rockwall County Helping Hands breaks ground on new facility, launches Capital Campaign

Expanding services for a growing community

ROCKWALL, TX (Aug. 27, 2024) — Rockwall County Helping Hands is thrilled to announce the commencement of construction on their new facility, designed to expand and enhance their services in response to the rapid growth of Rockwall County. To support this vital project, Helping Hands is launching a Capital Campaign to raise funds for the new building. As one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation, Rockwall’s expansion has created an urgent need for larger, more advanced facilities to ensure that essential services continue to reach the community’s most vulnerable residents.

The funds raised through this campaign will be dedicated to constructing a state-of-the-art main building and warehouse facility. These expanded facilities will allow Helping Hands to increase its capacity to serve more families in need, offering a broader range of programs and resources, including food assistance in a grocery store-like setting, medical care, and emergency financial support. This new space is crucial in ensuring that no one in our community is left behind.

The board members and staff of Helping Hands sign and write their meaningful hopes for the building.

“The growth of our community has brought with it increased demands for our services. Last year, requests for food assistance rose by 70%,” said Melody Hail, Senior Director of Philanthropy at Rockwall County Helping Hands. “We’ve more than outgrown our current space, often needing to operate out of two locations and occasionally having to limit food donations due to insufficient storage. When we get large food donations, we actually have to rent storage pods to house it. Constructing this new facility is essential to meeting the rise in demand. However, we can’t manage this growth alone. We are asking our neighbors to join us, and every time we ask, Rockwall truly shows up.”

Would you like to join Helping Hands as they build to meet Rockwall’s growing needs? There are opportunities for contribution at every level—from having a brick engraved in the garden to naming the entire building after someone special. Melody Hail is available to discuss naming rights opportunities and provide more information about how you can contribute to the success of this campaign.
