ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (March 30, 2026) — The Rockwall County Library will host a special educational program on the Holocaust on Thursday, April 30, featuring a guest speaker from the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Anti-Semitism Advisory Commission in Austin.
The presentation, titled “Making Sense of the Unimaginable: How Antisemitic Lies Fanned the Flame of Hate in Nazi Germany,” will be offered at 4:30 p.m. and again at 6:00 p.m. and is open to ages 12 and up.
The Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Anti-Semitism Advisory Commission is a state-funded initiative that travels across Texas to educate communities about culture, war, and the historical context surrounding the Holocaust and genocide. The Commission has previously presented at Rockwall ISD middle and high schools, as well as at the Rockwall County Library.
Led by Commission Educator Elizabeth SoRelle, the program will examine the historical roots and impact of antisemitism, including how these beliefs developed in Europe prior to the Holocaust, how they became central to Nazi ideology, and how they were used to justify the persecution and murder of six million Jews.
The lecture aims to provide a deeper understanding of how long-standing prejudice can be manipulated to fuel widespread violence and injustice.
The Rockwall County Library continues to offer educational and cultural programming for the community, with additional events and a traveling art exhibit planned in the near future.
