Free public memorial in Dallas will celebrate the extraordinary life of Kidd Kraddick
(Dallas) August 9, 2013 – Fans and “extended family” of the late Kidd Kraddick are invited to a free public celebration of Kidd’s remarkable life next Thursday, August 15th.
The “Tribute to Kidd” will begin at 5:30 PM on AT&T Plaza outside of the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Video of the event will also be streamed free on KiddTV.com.
Several of Kidd’s closest friends and family will be present as we remember how the radio legend made us laugh, cry and care. Local dignitaries from around the Dallas/Fort Worth area will speak to Kidd’s impact on the community and special musical guests, including singer-songwriter Ben Folds, will perform. And, of course, we’ll celebrate Kidd’s Kids, the extraordinary charity to which Kidd dedicated more than 20 years of his life.
“Thursday is going to be a beautiful day of remembrance doing two things my dad loved: listening to great music and supporting Kidd’s Kids,” said Caroline Cradick, Kidd’s beloved daughter. “This charity meant so much to him and it is such an honor to carry on his legacy. Thank you to all of the fans for your kind words. I feel the love every day and am lucky to have a father that left such an impact.”
“I’m also really excited to see Ben Folds, dad’s and my favorite artist, who we share a lot of fond memories with,” said Cradick.
The tribute will immediately precede the first-ever Concert for Kidd’s Kids sponsored by Raising Cane’s, which will be held at the Dallas House of Blues beginning at 7:00 PM. The concert is headlined by the Grammy-winning Jonas Brothers, and also includes pop sensation Jason Derulo, Andy Grammer, Cimorelli and Tim Halperin. Guests are welcome to stay at the AT&T Plaza after the public memorial and enjoy a closed-circuit feed of the concert.
Special thanks to Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, the City of Dallas, the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars, WFAA, Southwest Airlines and Ustream for their generous support of the Tribute to Kidd.
