ROCKWALL COUNTY,TX. (August 6, 2014) Kids of the Boys and Girls Club of Rockwall County put on a marvelous display of singing, dancing and musical flair during the BGCRC’s annual talent show on Tuesday night.

The 10-act display had the sizeable audience within the BGCRC game room clapping and singing along as they witnessed a variety of outstanding dance routines, vocal solos and even a piano performance.

Misti Potter, CEO of the BGCRC, said the participants of the show worked very hard all summer alongside the staff members to perfect their routines. The talent show is one of her favorite events of the year put on by the club, due to its emphasis on letting the kids be themselves while showing off their natural talents.

“They’re comfortable enough here to showcase they’re talent,” Misti said. “It really lets the kids show who they are.”

Acting as one of three judges for the contest, I was simply amazed at the kind of talent I saw from the participants. The team work and stage presence of all of the dancing groups were top-notch, and the vocals from the singers were just as amazing. To be able to get up front-and-center with just a microphone (and in some cases no background music) and sing as beautifully as they did, takes a lot of courage and talent, and I found it difficult to have to rate one above the other as a judge.

Acting as show hosts, Savanah Willie and KC Nkalari’s comedic sequences between acts kept the entertainment rolling throughout the hour-long event. Despite KC’s humble beliefs that his jokes were not funny, the multitude of laughter filling the room really said otherwise, and I would put the two hosts’ performances within the top three acts of the night.

To cap off the evening’s entertainment, Savanah and KC, along with several other contestants, also put on one of the most entertaining dance spectacles of the night.

Buffalo Wild Wings, a local and national BGCRC partner, was on hand to show its longtime support for the club and its kids, providing delicious wings and refreshing snacks to attendees prior to the show.
