(June 8, 2015) ROCKWALL,TX. After studying about American Heroes and Clara Barton, an individual involved in starting Red Cross in the United States, Janie Blackwell’s third grade class decided to raise money to support the Red Cross. In just two weeks the students raised a total of $167.27 in donations for Red Cross. With the money the students raised, they had the option to purchase chips and ice cream for a lunchtime treat but instead they chose to donate all the money collected to support Red Cross.
“We are very proud of them wanting to give back to the community ,” said Ms. Blackwell. “Ms. Hamm from Rockwall County Helping Hands , who also works with Red Cross, came yesterday so my students could donate the money in person. Thank you Ms. Hamm and thank you kids for a job well done!”
