Local violinist, instructor heads to China to perform, teach master classes

(ROCKWALL, TX – August 28, 2015) Violinist Hubert Pralitz, an instructor at the Rockwall School of Music, will travel to China in September to tour the country, perform in master classes and teach master classes in violin.

Pralitz will make the trek to China on September 6 along with David Wong, founder and conductor of the Texas Performing Arts Chinese Association, and Dr. Victor Soto, a professor in the music department at Mountain View College in Dallas. Pralitz and Wong met in Dallas, where they started an annual music duo called “East Meets West” in which they play classic Chinese and Western European violin pieces.

The trio has been invited to visit China by the city of Changde, which is in the northwest area of the Hunan providence. They will also be visiting Beijing.

Pralitz says that he is looking forward to the opportunity.

“China is a country that has lots of musical tradition,” Pralitz said. “The festival will be a crossing road between global artistic communities and other communities as well.”

For Pralitz, the trip is an opportunity to broaden his artistic influences. “I strongly believe that I will be inspired by the diversity and continue to develop my own creativity.”

He also says he feels his performance opportunities in China will continue to develop his teaching.

“I need to perform in order to teach, and I need to teach in order to perform.”

Pralitz started his journey with the violin in Poland at the age of 7. He has played across Europe in Germany, France and Austria, and in South America and the United States. He has attended the Stanislaw Moniuszko Music School of Sopot and the Fryderyk Chopin Music College in Poland; the National Superior Conservatory of Music in Paris, France; and the Academy of Music and Performing Arts “Mozarteum” in Salzburg, Austria; and Southern Methodist University in Dallas. In addition to teaching violin at the Rockwall School of Music, he is also the founder and director of Camerata Dallas, an interdisciplinary arts organization based in Dallas.
