(ROCKWALL, TX – March 30, 2018) Joshua T. Burgess, 19, of Fate, TX, graduated from the United States Navy boot camp at the Navy’s only Recruit Training Command located in Great Lakes, Illinois on March 2, 2018.
Fireman Burgess successfully completed 8 weeks of intensive basic and shipboard training at Great Lakes, Illinois as one of 74 recruits in Training Division 110. While in basic training, Fireman Burgess learned many valuable skills to become a sailor; in addition he served as Assistant Section Leader and earned a 9mm sharp shooter ribbon as well as the National Defense medal. He will report to Great Lakes, IL, Advanced Training School for 20 weeks to learn the critical skills as a shipboard Electricians Mate.
Fireman, Joshua T. Burgess, is a 2017 graduate of Rockwall High School.
Joshua Burgess is the son of Kelly Burgess, Grandson of Mark (USN Retired) and Donna Roland of Fate, TX and comes from a family of fellow service members. He continues the tradition of Naval service following his great grandfathers’ Paul Roland, Danny Bolinger and Howard Smith and his great grandmother, Virginia Smith, all USN Veterans.
