(ROCKWALL, TX – may 18, 2020) This evening, the Board of Trustees approved the appointment of two elementary principals for the 2020-2021 school year.
Congratulations to Lindy Lewis named new principal of Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School
Mrs. Lindy Lewis comes to Amy Parks-Heath Elementary with fifteen years of experience in public education, including seven years as the Assistant Principal at Dorris A. Jones Elementary and Celia Hays Elementary. In addition to her campus assistant principal experience, she has served eight years as an educator in Rockwall and Garland ISD. Mrs. Lewis has served as the Elementary Summer School Principal for the last two years.
Mrs. Lewis’s professional experiences include:
- Participant in the 2020 Rockwall ISD Aspiring Elementary Principal Academy,
- Extensive experience in the implementation of Campus-Wide Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), including participation in the National PLC Institute,
- Comprehensive knowledge of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) that create a supportive school environment in which all students grow academically and socially, and
- Campus implementation of the Reading, Writing, and Math Workshop.
Congratulations to Laura Mejia named new principal of Howard Dobbs Elementary School
Mrs. Mejia comes to Dobbs Elementary with nineteen years of experience in public education, including six years as the Assistant Principal of Springer and Cullins Lake-Pointe Elementary. In addition to her campus assistant principal experience, she has served thirteen years as an educator in Rockwall, Plano, Humble, and Killeen Independent School Districts. Mrs. Mejia’s extensive expertise as a bilingual educator spans kindergarten through fourth grade.
Her professional experiences include:

- State and National Conference Presenter at TABE (Texas Association of Bilingual Educators) and NABE (National Association of Bilingual Educators),
- Participant in the 2020 Rockwall ISD Aspiring Elementary Principal Academy,
- Extensive experience in the implementation of Campus-Wide Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) with a focus on improving student performance. and
- Campus implementation of the Reading, Writing, and Math Workshop.
