ROCKWALL, TX (September 25, 2020) A dedication ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 26 at 9 a.m. to officially recognize the SH 66 bridge between Rockwall and Rowlett as the “Heroes Bridge.”
The change was made to raise awareness of the issue of veteran and first responder suicide. Statistics show that military veterans, police officers, and other public servants have a higher suicide rate than the general population.
The event will be held at the SH 66 Boat Ramp and Bridge and will feature speakers, a flyover by the Dallas-Fort Worth Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, and a Hands Across The Bridge walk of Heroes Bridge.
Parking for the event is available at the boat ramp and in a grass area north of the parking lot.
