Speaker to address effects of education cuts on Garland ISD

 (Garland/Rowlett) Dr. Cindy Castaneda, Garland ISD board trustee, Place 4, will address the Rowlett Democratic Club at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at Dos Charros Restaurant, 5203 Rowlett Road.

Castaneda, a government professor at Eastfield College, has a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of North Texas. She previously served as executive dean of ethnic studies, social science and physical education at Richland College. She is a member of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, UNT Alumni Association and the National Community College Hispanic Council.
 
Castaneda will discuss cuts to education recently passed by the Texas State Legislature, the effect on GISD, and the efforts of GISD to cope with reduced funding.
