‘Great British Thanksgivaway’ to kick of Small Business Saturday

(Grapevine) In honor of Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26, British Emporium store owners Alexandra Evans and Sheela Kadam are inviting everyone to take part in a very civilized Black Friday during their annual ‘Great British Thanksgivaway’ at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 25. The event also coincides with the store’s 19th Anniversary.

 

According to Alexandra Evans, “we are one of the few local independently run stores in Grapevine that have been operating for 19 years, and we wish to thank our customers for their kind patronage, which has kept us going throughout the years. We like to offer quality gourmet items at reasonable prices and personalized service in a unique setting. Shopping here is such a different experience from going to the mall or big-box stores and we know that many of our customers appreciate that.”

 

Sheela Kadam added: “Thanksgiving is not a public holiday in the U.K, so this is our way of joining in the fun of holiday shopping! For the last 15 years, we’ve opened on Black Friday at the civilized hour of  9 a.m.  with complimentary hot tea and refreshments…and anyone who spends over $10 receives a free bag of British goodies (some restrictions apply). Like ‘Small Business Saturday’, it’s a great way to support local stores that give back so much to the community, and to discover a new shopping venue. And we don’t make our customers get up in the wee hours for their treats!”

 

For 19 years, The British Emporium has provided British groceries and gifts at the most British spot in the Metroplex. Owners Sheela Kadam and Alexandra Evans are reknowned for holding year-round community-related British cultural events such as royal celebrations, carshows and hosting VIP visitors from Great Britain. The store stocks hard-to-find imported items and is a popular meeting point for the expatriate British community and Anglophiles alike.
