(ROCKWALL ISD-February 24, 2013) On Thursday, March 7, Rockwall ISD will host a “Celebrate Texas Public Schools” Rally featuring former Texas Commissioner of Education Robert Scott. The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Rockwall High School Performing Arts Center located on the Utley campus.
The event is held in conjunction with Celebrate Texas Public Schools Week and will featuring student performance groups including the Amy Parks-Heath Starlight Singers, the Springer Elementary Guitar Ensemble, the RISD orchestra ensemble and the Rockwall-Heath High School Choir ensemble, among others.
David Anthony with the pro-public education group “Raise Your Hand Texas” will be the emcee for the evening. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the great things about Texas public schools as well as hear information regarding the state of education in Texas from former commissioner Scott.
The event is free and open to the public. Parents and community members are encouraged to attend. If you currently have a student in public school or if you care about public education in Texas, you will not want to miss this event.
