(Rockwall) June 17, 2013 – Attendees at the recent Rockwall County Helping Hands “Junk Prom” dusted off the forgotten glory and beauty of their prom dresses and played dress-up while enjoying the greatest flea market finds!
It was a magical evening complete with a makeshift stage for the band, amazing vendors, a Junk Prom Court and the community coming together in their prom attire for a great cause under big ol’ southern stars!
Rockwall Main Street Manager Bethany Golden and Kevin LeFere of Zanatas were nominated by the Rockwall Downtown Merchants and crowned reigning Junk Prom King and Queen. It was a close call against the Wineshare nominees of Vivian Brown and Kenneth Shields.
There were lots of customers and junkers shopping the best bargains in east Texas. Sipping wine from KE Cellars, taking silly pictures, practically dancing holes in their boots, everyone had lots of laughs and were completely oblivious to the fact that Junk Prom is definitely going to evolve into a yearly event.
A favorite for everyone was the Junk Prom Court trailer, turned photobooth! Sponsored by Groovy’s who retrofitted it in true Centsible Thrift Store style, hubcaps and balloons transformed the trailer into the most happening and posh place to be photographed!
Modeled after an annual event at Round Top, Thrift Store Director Melody East envisioned an evening of old prom dresses, a huge fleamarket sale at Centsible Thrift Store and the desire to just have fun!
So for as long as we can . . . we are gonna be dancin’ in our cowgirl boots underneath the stars at Junk Prom! Who will be crowned the Junk Prom King and Queen next year?
