ROCKWALL-HEATH (November 5, 2013) The Rockwall-Heath High School Mighty Hawk Marching Band just completed a highly successful competitive marching season. The band earned 2nd Place in the 5A division at the Mesquite Marching Band Festival and Best in Class Colorguard on October 5th preceding their UIL experience.
On Saturday October 12th the Mighty Hawk Band fought through the weather and earned a place into finals competition at the Classic on the Lake Marching Band Festival in Little Elm. At this festival they placed fourth in the 5A division and all of their scores were assessed over 90% in areas of achievement and success.
The band concluded its 2013 marching competition season by earning STRAIGHT FIRST DIVISON ratings at Region 3 UIL Marching Contest. This means that all three UIL judges awarded the band the highest possible rating for UIL contest. . This brings a great cap to their competitive season. To make finals at every competition possible and place very highly is a sign of the students’ hard work, dedication and achievement.
Perhaps the biggest achievement is success that the Mighty Hawk Band has had in the classroom. This year the academic marks have climbed enormously as students are taking a greater sense of pride in their course work.
Many thanks to all the support from RHHS teachers and staff and the Heath community – the band’s success would not have been possible without you. GO HAWKS!
