(ROYSE CITY, TX) In early January we began the process to find the next Royse City Police Chief. Applications were received from a diverse variety of police executives from throughout the state, each possessing a unique set of professional experiences and skills. The top five candidates were interviewed on February 19, 2020 by a panel consisting of our Mayor and council representatives, the County Judge, police representatives and city employees. A finalist was selected and will assume duty Monday, March 16, 2020.
Rockwall Police Department Assistant Chief Kirk Aldridge comes to Royse City with 25 years of law enforcement experience. Chief Aldridge has been a member of the Rockwall Police Command Staff for 13 years with experience in every departmental function. In addition to his vast law enforcement experience, Kirk possesses a strong interest in community involvement and relationship building.
Mayor Janet Nichol said, “Chief Aldridge did an outstanding job in the application and selection process. His commitment to family, the police department, and the city as a whole was sincere and will prove to be a valuable asset for our community as we continue to grow.; I am very proud of him and his demonstrated history of professional commitment and know that he will be successful here.”
City Manager Carl Alsabrook added, “The strong interest in this position opening was impressive. In speaking with people from the area I was struck by the respect and affection that was displayed for Kirk. Chief Aldridge has had a stellar career in law enforcement. The strength of his background and intensity of his statements convinced me that he was our ideal candidate.” Additionally, Alsabrooke stated, “We are extremely grateful to Chief Mark Moeller for his willingness to serve as our Interim Chief of Police during this process. His strengths and expertise were invaluable to us during the period of transition.”
Chief Aldridge will be sworn in as chief on the morning of March 16, 2020. A public ceremonial swearing-in will take place during the Royse City Council meeting on March 24, 2020.
