Valerie Bodart released this statement announcing her run for Mayor of the City of McLendon-Chisholm:
“Hello, my name is Valerie Bodart and I’m running for Mayor of the city of McLendon-Chisholm. My family moved to Rockwall County in 2007 and to McLendon-Chisholm in 2014. I am originally from Oklahoma, so I am very comfortable with the friendly atmosphere and family values that Texas is known for.
I am the mother of two wonderful children and grandmother to a perfect little girl. My life has been centered around service to my country. I was an Air Force brat, married a young airman, and became one myself in 1987. I was placed in the electronics field and after training became an avionics technician on KC-135R aircraft. I had the opportunity of being deployed to various assignments, and had the privilege of being deployed to Saudi Arabia with my squadron (including my husband) at the beginning of Desert Shield. Since then I have held several other positions including HR Specialist for a large city school system, and an administrative assistant and travel coordinator for a subcontractor of the Department of Homeland Security. I have had courses in customer service and completed the Dale Carnegie course. Currently I am serving as an alternate to the Board of Adjustment, and my neighborhood as the HOA president.
As Mayor I will be available at City Hall for anyone to visit during business hours and to address concerns.
I believe all of my experiences have shaped me into a person with the skills needed for effective leadership and teamwork. As your Mayor and working with the City Council, I know McLendon-Chisholm can move forward, keeping our wide-open spaces and hometown atmosphere while honoring our heritage.
