TEDC honors Fate with Community Economic Development Award

FATE, TX (Oct. 7, 2020) – The Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) recognized the City of Fate with the 2020 Community Economic Development Award (CEDA) for communities with populations between 10,001 to 20,000.

The Community Economic Development Award program recognizes exceptional contributions of TEDC member cities toward the economic vitality of their communities and the State of Texas.  The criteria for the award is based on five core elements: innovativeness, transferability, community commitment and leverage, measurable objectives, and ancillary benefits to the community.

Fate’s award-winning project is The Villages at Fate.  Located in Downtown Fate, this 3-story mixed-use building is a new fiscally sustainable development that offers 18 apartments and approximately 7,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, and entertainment space – the first of its kind in Fate!  The Villages at Fate directly impacts the community as the new anchor for the revitalized downtown. This project will increase the current property value, provide new leasing space for business opportunities, create new jobs, and add new sales tax revenue.  Two new businesses have already been announced for The Villages at Fate: It’s Fate Creamery and Pablo’s Restaurant & Cantina.  Leasing information for the two remaining commercial spaces can be found at: www.thevillagesatfate.com

This prestigious award was presented during TEDC’s 2020 Virtual Annual Conference on Thursday, October 7, 2020.
