Rockwall Jacket Backers recognize December Athletes of the Month

ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 11, 2021 – Each month, the Jacket Backers, Rockwall High School’s Booster Club, selects student athletes who are nominated by their coach for Jacket Athlete of the Month. For the month of December, Jamy Keaffer, Michael Gomez and Landry Moore were each nominated by their coaches and selected as Jacket Athletes of the Month.

Jamy Keaffer, Girls Gymnastics, Senior All-Arounder is a four year varsity gymnast and is captain of the Rockwall High School team. Coach Stephanie Tyson states, “She is the true definition of a leader. Her attitude, work ethic, morals and trustworthiness is what sets Jamy apart from most student athletes. Jamy leads by example every day, giving 100% no matter what. The RHS girl’s gymnastics team is blessed to have Jamy leading them this season. I am honored to be able to coach her and watch her grow into such an amazing young lady.”

Michael Gomez, Boys Gymnastics, Senior SR, PB, and HB Specialist is a four year varsity gymnast, and one of our leaders on the team. Michael scored a perfect 10.0 on parallel bars at the Chisholm Trail meet (12/10/2020). He also scored a pair of 9.8s on parallel bars and high bar from the previous meet (Rudder meet, 12/4/2020). “Michael consistently works his hardest every single day and helps coach up his teammates. Congratulations to Michael!” said Coach Cameron Sweny.

Landry Moore, Girls Basketball, Junior Post had a great month in the 4 games we played in December. With the help of her team, she averaged 13.5ppg and 10 rebounds. Coach Kasie Brewer also shared, “She is a great teammate, always encouraging and helping others become their best. She is a great example of the Lady Jacket Way.”
