Rockwall resident uses her late years to encourage and challenge ‘Boomers and Beyond’

UPDATE (Sept. 11, 2021) The Good Morning Texas segment has been rescheduled to Wed. Sept. 15.

ROCKWALL, TX (September 7, 2021) Rockwall’s Missy Buchanan is still surprised at how her life has unfolded since 2008. She never planned to be using her own late years to encourage and challenge older adults on the journey aging. Even so, Upper Room Books is poised to release Missy’s tenth book on the topic of faithful aging on Oct. 1, 2021.

Missy has appeared on Good Morning America twice to talk about aging with purpose with anchor Robin Roberts. She has led a roundtable at the American Society on Aging’s national conference. In addition to speaking to thousands of people at conferences, senior living communities and churches across the US, she has traveled to Scotland and South Africa to speak about aging with purpose.

Most recently, Missy appeared on CW-33’s Morning After with Jenny Anchondo and also the Second Shot podcast. She is scheduled to appear on Good Morning Texas with Jane McGarry on Monday, Sept. 13. Later in October, Missy will be the keynote speaker for the national conference of the Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network. She and her husband Barry have lived in the Rockwall-Heath area for 40 years where they are active members of First United Methodist Church of Rockwall.

On Oct. 1, Missy’s latest book will be released by Upper Room Books– From Dry Bones to Living Hope: Embracing God’s Faithfulness– just in time for holiday gift buying for older loved ones who need a dose of encouragement. Dry Bones is available now for pre-order through Amazon.com, Cokesbury.com, UpperRoom.org and many other sites.
