ROCKWALL, TX (March 21, 2024) There’s a saying in the Chamber of Commerce world that goes, “If you’ve seen one Chamber of Commerce…you’ve seen ONE Chamber of Commerce.” Although details and logistics can vary greatly from chamber to chamber, our purpose remains the same amongst all. A chamber of commerce is an organization that’s dedicated to protecting and promoting the local business community. Our primary goal is to advocate for local business owners, offer them opportunities to build relationships to catapult their business to the next level.

One of the things that sets the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce apart from other chambers is our commitment to community. We believe for a business to thrive, you must balance community success with success in business. We offer several opportunities for local business owners to get plugged in and give back – with a representative body of charitable non-profit organizations as both members and on our Board of Directors. We also dedicate community service time through our four “Affiliate Groups” – our Senior Services Alliance, Professional Women’s Alliance, The Rockwall Veterans Business Alliance, and Young Professionals of Rockwall. Each of these committees serves as an extension of the Chamber, which offers community resources and assistance to that specific demographic.

Another way that we emphasize the importance of community is through our Signature Events. These are large-scale annual events that offer a chance for our members to gather and celebrate each other’s wins while moving the mission of the chamber forward. On February 29th, we celebrated our 95th Year at our Leaders & Legends Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet. Held at AmeriSports and presented by Frost Bank, the banquet was attended by approximately 500 attendees, with 59 local companies serving in a sponsorship role. Together we celebrated the 2023 accomplishments of our partners and the milestones we’ve reached so far as a Five-Star Accredited Chamber of Commerce. Social barriers were eliminated as small business owners shared tables with CEOs of multimillion dollar corporations. All of us gathered for the same reason: to recognize every partner and to celebrate the accomplishments of the Rockwall Area business community. (See Blue Ribbon News’ Leaders and Legends recap and photos here).

Community engagement is once again the focus as we look ahead to our next large-scale initiative and community event, Lemonade Day, Junior Market. Scheduled for Saturday, May 4 in conjunction with the Farmers Market season kick off in Downtown Rockwall, this youth-centered event teaches young people how to start and operate their own business.  While it can be a lemonade stand, it can also encompass other goods.  During the process, kids learn valuable financial literacy and social skills all while cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit. Lemonade Day is a national foundation licensed and independently operated in 90 communities across North America. This is Rockwall’s second year participating and we look forward to continuing the tradition for many years to come!
