(ROCKWALL ISD-February 27, 2013) The Rockwall-Heath High School Highsteppers attended the Duncanville High Hat Competition on Saturday February 9, 2012. The Highsteppers represented Rockwall I.S.D. very well, winning several honors.
The team was awarded the following awards: Sweepstakes, Gussie Nell Davis Award of Excellence, Judges Award in Kick, Judges Award in Pom, Judges Award in Contemporary, Best Over-All Technique, Best Over-All Presentation, Best Over-All Precision, Best Over-All Choreography, 4th place Best in Class and Academic Champions.
The Highstepper officers also competed in the officer category winning Sweepstakes, Gussie Nell Award of Excellence, Judges Award in Lyrical, Judges Award in Hip Hop, Judges Award in Contemporary, Best Over-All Presentation, Best Over-All Precision, Best Over-All Choreography, First Runner Up for Best in Class.
Several team and officer members competed in the solo category as well. 5th runner up was Kayla Bender, 4th runner up was Anna Digiroloamo and Allison Strother (tie), 2nd runner up was Madison Mills, 1st runner up was Mercedes Tobias and the winner was Victoria Carney.
The Highsteppers attended the American Dance and Drill Team competition on February 23 at Rowlett High School, and they will also participate in the Half-Time Entertainment competition in Justin, Texas on March 2 and the American Dance and Drill Team National Competition on March 22-23 in Denton.
