(TERRELL, TX–December 19, 2017) STAR Transit announces reduced/free fare grace period ends December 31.
On November 1, STAR Transit implemented its new fare structure. Part of the new structure includes discounted or free fares for qualified seniors 60 plus, veterans and persons with disabilities. During the reduced/free fare grace period, riders received discounts and free fares without a Reduced Fare ID pass. After December 31, qualified riders may continue receiving the reduced/free fare by completing the eligibility form and assessment and obtaining a Reduced Fare ID pass.
The Reduced Fare ID pass allows seniors 60 plus, veterans and disabled riders to ride the on demand, curb to curb service for half fare and the fixed routes free. The Reduced Fare ID pass must be presented to the driver each time a rider boards a STAR Transit vehicle.
Eligibility forms can be accessed in the following ways:
- Calling STAR Transit at (877) 631-5278.
- Sending an email to the Mobility Management Dpt., MobilityDpt@STARtransit.org.
- In person at 500 Industrial Blvd., Terrell, TX 75160.
Appointments are scheduled, Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. If approved, a photo will be taken for the STAR Transit Reduced Fare ID pass. There is a one-time $2.00 processing fee. If requested, STAR Transit will provide free transportation to the assessment appointment.
