Just look at what you’ve done

Dawn Redig, editor

Perhaps the fact that North Texans have been sweltering in triple digit heat for the past 62 days has something to do with why we’ve had such an overwhelming response at our newly launched DFW news site.

After all, folks are looking forward to Labor Day concerts, football games and tailgate parties, fall festivals and holiday craft fairs – and Blue Ribbon News is highlighting all of these events as fast as readers and contributors send them in.

At Blue Ribbon News, it’s easy to find details on GrapeFest in Grapevine, Oktoberfest in Addison, and QueFest with Jason Castro at Firewheel. Families stay one step ahead with the latest on Tiger Trot in Plano, ONE RUN at Reverchon Park, and Tour des Fleurs at White Rock Lake.

Maybe you’re up to the challenge of a muddy obstacle course, in which case you’ll want to check out Jailbreak DFW. Or perhaps you’d rather be fishing with Hotties on the Harbor. (Ladies, the Marines will bait your hook!)

Area businesses are also in the spotlight at Blue Ribbon News: from the new Bingo hall in Terrell to local favorites like Brendals Bakery & Cupcake Couture and Sizzling Fajitas. And we’re spreading the word about upcoming golf tournaments hosted by the Rowlett Chamber or the Fort Worth Chamber.

The Reader Poll on our front page reveals that nearly 90 percent of respondents “love the concept and content” of Blue Ribbon News and plan to submit news often. A huge thank you for all of the positive feedback and contributions!

As for the 10 percent who either “like” the site or are “waiting to see how things develop,” we want to emphasize that this is YOUR site, and we’re happy to include the stories from your neighborhood, school, church, club, company or cause. Simply email editor@BlueRibbonNews.com to submit your events and ideas.

In the meantime, we’re working on adding more guest columns, feature stories, hometown happenings, and business and school news to keep you coming back. You can look forward to fresh, relevant content added almost hourly. Since we launched about a month ago, we’ve posted more than 185 news items relating to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Just look at a few of our latest headlines to see what you – our Blue Ribbon News readers and contributors – have helped us highlight:
